Program
Outdoor material research installation · forty joint conditions
Document and weather-test forty full-scale joint conditions across concrete, bronze and lime plaster over a five-year period · the studio's own R&D, no client.
A reconfigurable steel armature accepts panels every season. Each joint is photographed, sampled and entered into the studio's material library; outcomes inform detailing on subsequent commissions.
An ongoing inquiry into the joint as ornament · board-formed concrete and oxidised bronze in slow conversation.
An on-going material study installed in the studio courtyard: forty full-scale joint conditions tested in concrete, bronze, and lime plaster. The piece is rebuilt every season.
We are interested in the ornament that emerges from honest assembly · the chamfer that the welder leaves, the patina that the rain writes, the shadow that the joint casts at four in the afternoon.
The work has no client. It has only weather, and time, and the slow attention of the people who walk past it.
